NEWS AND UPDATES FOR APRIL 2010
MESSAGE FROM OWNER OF FLYINFLYOUT AFTER THE 4TH PLACING AT GOODWOOD - THANKS FOR THE PHOTOS, MANDY!

Hi Sheena
Many thanks for a great day at Goodwood on Saturday, really pleased with Fly's first run. Onwards and upwards and hopefully we can get in the frame at Salisbury next time out.
I have attached some pictures Mandy took on Saturday should you wish to use them on the website.
Cheers

KASHMINA by DR FONG KASHMINA made her seasonal debut at Brighton on 29th April, finishing fifth over 10 furlongs. She stayed on well and is sure to come on for the run. She won on the flat and over hurdles last season and will have a mixed campaign again in 2010. At this time of year the hurdling options are often further afield so Sheena has decided to stay closer to home on the flat for the time being, until the perfect hurdle race comes up. In either case KASHMINA will continue to put her best foot forward and will give her owners plenty of fun and entertainment once again. There is now just one share remaining in this consistent individual, please call us for more details.
TOBAGO BAY by TOBOUGG TOBAGO BAY missed a bit of work last month which was why he hadnt been seen since his seasonal debut at Kempton until last weekend. He put his setback firmly behind him however at Uttoxeter in a competitive £24,000 open handicap finishing a gallant second. With a nice low weight the only negative was the ground, but this gutsy little horse still ran is heart out and gave his owners a thrilling day out. We hear many owners also had the forecast after meeting the owners in the parade ring and left Uttoxeter well up which is great news! Sheena continues to school TOBAGO BAY over fences and has made a provisional entry at Haydock Park next Saturday 8th May in a beginners Chase.
GOODWOOD STARLIGHT by MTOTO GOODWOOD STARLIGHT put in a great effort to finish second at Folkestone in March despite running on ground much too soft. We have been predicting a successful season for this horse and he should be back on the track this month after a slight hold up which he is now recovering from. He has been very buzzy in the past but seems to enjoy life with Sheena West and is now a relaxed and happy horse. Sheena will be looking for another handicap over a mile and a half on the turf.
MOHANAD - OWNED BY HEART OF THE SOUTH
2ND at LEICESTER 8TH APRIL 2010

HEART OF THE SOUTH RACING
A promising return to the track for Mohanad in a race of only 4 runners. That said, the way he ran he may still have finished second had there been 12 runners. We will never know. A good ride by Robert and great to see Mohanad back on the racecourse.
GOODWOOD STARLIGHT 2nd @ 12/1 at FOLKESTONE THURSDAY 1ST APRIL 2010
HEART OF THE SOUTH RACING
After a break of 162 days and a relatively new horse for Sheena to train it was great to see that Goodwood Starlight has clearly lost none of his talent.
Many of the owners of Heart of The South were present to watch Robert Lucy Butler give Starlight a cracking ride to finish second.
The owners were rightly thrilled with this effort.
Robert has been spending a lot of time at Sheena's yard riding out and learning about the different horses and watching endless videos of their previous races. He deserves to do well.
Well done to all the connections particularly to Sheena who has changed this horse from a horse that, by all accounts, spent much of his time quite fizzed up on the racetrack to a horse that was walking around so relaxed one of the owners thought he was in danger of falling asleep! Sometimes, just a change of scenery and change of routine can be enough to re light that racing spark and on today's evidence something clearly had Goodwood Starlight shining again!

===========================
Goodwood Starlight, without the tongue-tie on his first start since leaving Gary Moore, ran well after 162 days off. He had every chance after being waited with, but finished tired and is entitled to come for the run.
UPDATES ON HORSES IN THE YARD
Another annoying month with Tobago Bay missing Cheltenham by just 3 declarations, which to be honest was more than a little offset when the rain waterred ground would have worked against him anyway, so no harm done there.
March started with a visit to The Lester Awards at The Park Lane Hilton Hotel. If my memory serves me right it was actually a really good night enjoyed by every single one on our table. The band was fantastic, the champagne very expensive (so clearly, I didn't drink much at all) and the evening hosted by Jeremy Kyle who was with someone that didn't look like his wife, or behave like his sister either..... well, that was what Nat thought anyway!
After this, the weather weather decided it needed a fortnight's detox and no liquid hit the ground for a good couple of weeks, but being British it soon recovered to resume it's normal behaviour.
My phone didn't work properly during this time with my number 3 not working at all but also no d, e or t in text messages, so any messages sent by me took a little deciphering by the the recipient! Poor Alex co owner of Screaming Brave had a bit more of a problem than most as he is also dyslexic!
Anyway, the good new is the phone is now fixed....so moving on to the horses...
ANOTHER NEW ARRIVAL IN THE YARD
MOONWOLF 2004 Bay Gelding by Ustinov ex Moonrise
Owner James Charlton
Woolfie arrived last weekend after a flat career in New Zealand. He is actually bred by his owner, James who spends 6 months in the UK and then 6 months in New Zealand. We are hoping that a successful future awaits this good looking type. He is certainly big enough and has shown enough ability and attitude to suggest he could do well here.
MOHANAD
2006 Bag gelding
Owner: Heart of The South Racing.
He is well and truly back on track after his injury which to be honest wasn't a bad thing in timing terms as there wouldn't have been a lot of mileage in running him over the last few months. I think he will go on most grounds but not the extremes. Planning to give him a flat run on the 8th April at Leicester as it's the only race I can find at that time to fit in with his target at Sandown on the 24th. He caught us out with how much he needed his first run for us at Fontwell and we don't want that happening again.
MR. MUDDLE
2007 Grey Gelding Owner Mr. Muddle
Roy is doing really well and ehowing enough to have a run or two on the flat before going jumping. He's schooling over tyres and going through the stalls as good as gold.
EASTON CLUMP
2004 Bay Gelding
He's well and looking for a race in the next couple of weeks. Trying to find a less hot race than the one at Newbury last week.
FLYINFLYOUT
2007 Bay Filly
Owner The Stewkley Shindiggers
She is progressing at a rate of knots now and we couldn't be happier with her. She will bebut for the yard on May 1st at Goodwood. She hasn't left the ground yet but we will be doing this soon. Fly is as hard as nails and will provide the Stewkley Shindiggers with a fun year!
GOODWOOD STARLIGHT
2005 Bay Gelding by Mtoto
Owners: Heart of The South
He has been going really well and ran on the 1st April at Folkestone and came a very creditable 2nd!
FORTY THIRTY
He's been trained with Aintree in mind and Barizan's Cheltenham efforts did his Juvenile Summer form no harm at all. Unfortunately, a bout of coughing has meant Aintree won't happen. He's on antibiotics and has been entered for Punchestown and Ayr. Hopefully he will be ready for one or the other. We just need to bear in mind he likes fast ground and it doesn't seem to have stopped raining for the last 6 years in Ireland and Scotland is currently snowbound again! Whatever happens, there are more races to be won with him.
REACTION
Despite knowing he wants 2 and a half miles and a bit of cut in the ground. I took it into my head to run over 2 miles and on fast ground (yes, there has been some!) at Stratford. On the face of it he was a bit disappointing but it wasn't a bad race and I knew condtions were not right, it's not really his fault. He's come out of the race sound and well but will now have a break. As mentioned before, he will be a novice next season and I'd love to run him in the Persian War over 2 and a half miles at Chepstow next October.
WHIPPERWAY
She has started schooling and duck and water come to mind. She has been entered for Kempton next Wednesday April 7th.
MISS BOLTE
I was pleased with her debut at Kempton. She came back a little tired and needed a couple of east weeks but is now back in full work.
APPOINTMENT
She's been busy and has run well. She's now on an easy couple of weeks to freshen her up.
LAST ONE STANDING
No problems with him. He just wants decent ground.
SCREAMING BRAVE
He's such an honest, genuine horse. A few entries have been made and will be made but he just wants good racing ground which will happen soon.
BLAZING BOLTE
She's well and no problems. She will be back in full work in the next couple of weeks and again wants better ground.
GEOFFDAW
He is steadily coming down to a more competitive mark but wants better ground. We will probably see him in a novice chase before not too long.
KASHMINA
Coming on very well indeed. Another few weeks and she can run.
TOBAGO BAY
Had to miss Cheltenham and ran up to his best jumping impeccably on the wrong ground at Kempton. Ironically, he was beaten by two horses also balloted out of Cheltenham. The hard fact is the better the horse, the fewer the races and poor Tobago Bay always seems to be at the top of the weights whatever the race conditions. He has, however, another string to his bow as he has schooled over fences since before he won his first hurdle race as a 3 year old and is getting close to the time to try it out for real. There are a couple of novices chases in April at Kempton and it does keep him as a novice all summer so it makes sense to try and take advantage of this.
TARAWA ATOLL
She is stepping up her work all the time now and is very well in herself.
